KC8: The First Rule of Success

Do you know one of the main reasons why people fail… is because they fail to SHOW UP?
Have you heard them say… you snooze, you lose?
How about… You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take?
And didn’t Woody Allen say… 80% of success is SHOWING up?
Think about it…
For many years, I’ve been running programs at top hotels such as the Ritz-Carlton.
And every now and then, there will be people who have paid around $1000 per day for it… yet they fail to show up.
Here’s the truth & simple logic… we can’t assist the person develop if they don’t show up…
So go ahead… give yourself a pat on the back… 🙂
You SHOWED UP for this episode… and this gives you an opportunity… to get the basics right & to develop yourself further. It’s literally this rule in action.
And remember this…
Nothing ever happens to the person who stays in bed… except lost opportunities!
So here’s the thing…
We can’t build a strong relationship with God or cannot have a beautiful marriage if we don’t show up.
Neither can we have a wonderful relationships with our loved ones or succeed in our vocation and career (especially if we’re in sales) if we don’t show up.
We can’t win a sporting event or competition if we don’t show up.
It’s literally impossible to win if we don’t show up. And I’ve used this example many times before… We can’t score a goal on the soccer field if we don’t SHOW UP.
SHOWING UP is just that important!
Even David SHOWED UP to beat Goliath in the ancient times.
Regardless of how you’re feeling, just SHOW UP!
How To Show Up
So let’s see how we can SHOW UP in the different areas of our lives…
At work each day, even when it gets really tough… JUST SHOW UP! It’s better to be late than not show up.
With our marriage… we got to not just show up physically but also be there spiritually, emotionally, etc. With our children… it’s the same thing.
Remember that before long, they’ll be all grown up. So SHOW UP and be there for them as much as you can.
Here is where showing up regularly can lead you…
Michael Jordan SHOWED UP on the basketball court consistently… and he became this basketball legend we know of today!
Colonel Sanders SHOWED UP door to door to sell his chicken recipe… and by age 88, KFC became a multi-billion $$ company.
Sylvester Stallone, the famous Hollywood superstar actor, SHOWED UP time and time again.
Jack Ma SHOWED UP time and time again despite failing many times… and is now China’s wealthiest man.
My Own Experience
Looking back personally…
If I did not SHOW UP for the Anthony Robbins’ event over 10 years ago, I would not be where I am today.
If I did not SHOW UP for a personal development mastermind many years ago, I would not have met my main mentor… this eventually led to me working with him for a good productive, insightful 7 years.
If I did not SHOW UP to the youth service at my church, I would not have met my girlfriend who’s now my wife. Today we have 2 beautiful daughters 🙂
If I did not SHOW UP to record this episode for you, I would not be fulfilling my purpose and mission.
In looking back… every SINGLE time I had a breakthrough or achieved anything at all, it all started with SHOWING UP.
SO the lesson is simple though not easy… JUST KEEP SHOWING UP! The more you SHOW UP, the more SUCCESS you’ll have.
That’s the equation…
